WGSA: Screenwriting Training in Official South African Languages

February 15, 2021

The Writers Guild of South Africa (WGSA) is holding a Basic Screenwriting Course. Emerging screenwriters from all over South Africa are encouraged to apply for the course in their first language. The course, developed by the WGSA, supported by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC), and the National Arts Council (NAC), has been translated into all the official languages of South Africa.

The first roll-out of this course will take place between late February and March 2021. The training is available as onsite and online learning. The onsite learning classes will take place in locations outside of major centres mostly, including Alice (Eastern Cape), Tongaat (KZN), Rosendal (Free State), and Potchefstroom (North West) where COVID-19 protocols will be upheld.

The training is FREE for the following WGSA members: Candidate (emerging writers who have not had any of their scripts produced) and Student (emerging writers registered at an educational institution), but do not let this prevent you from applying, as each course has different requirements. Email admin@writersguildsa.org for more information.
